The Moog Synthesizer
The name Moog is like that of royalty within the world of synthesizers. Bob Moog's first adventure in electronic musical instruments started in 1953 building and selling Theramins. In 1964 he demonstrated his first modular Synthesizer, aimed more at the studio than the musician.
However, in 1971, production began on production of the Minimoog Model D, one of the first widely available, portable and relatively affordable synthesizers. Its self contained construction was aimed directly at the keyboard player and it soon earned a place as the most popular and influential Synth of the 70's. Production of the Minimoog finally ended in 1982 but in 2002 an updated MIDI version was released called the Minimoog Voyager. A remarkably faithful software version by Arturia is also available called Minimoog V.
Other notable Moogs are the Sonic 6, Polymoog, Prodigy, Liberation (a Keytar),Source, Micromoog, Memorymoog, the Little Phatty and the Taurus Bass Pedals. A lot of them are rare to find so get in quick if you spot one.
